    3.10 to Yuma (R, Drama, Action) B
A farmer (Christian Bale) struggling to keep his family fed decides to help transport a dangerous criminal (Russell Crowe) to jail.  Along the way the men get to know each other while they are at odds with each other and trying to avoid a gang that wants to free the prisoner.  This was a good movie but it felt slow at times and it’s one of those were the bad guys are really poor shooters. 21 (PG-13, Drama) B+
A college student decides to join accept an invitation from his Professor (Kevin Spacey) to join a card playing team so that he can pay his tuition for Medical School.  The purpose of this team is to count cards after having developed a complex system between themselves.  At first everything is peachy and they are winning millions of dollars but other forces and their own internal bickering threaten to leave them worst off. It was interesting to see the system they used to count cards and the dynamic between all the characters was also good; the movie runs a little long though. Official Site

    27 Dresses (PG-13, Romantic Comedy) B
A woman who is in love with her boss finds out that her sister who just arrived into the city has started a relationship with him. She also meets a reporter who becomes interested in her because she has been a bridesmaid 27 times.  The two plot lines tied well together and made the movie more entertaining; I do think the movie could have been funnier. 30 Days of Night (R, Horror) B-
In Northern Alaska a Sherriff and a small group try to survive fot 30 days in a town that's being attacked by vampires.  The movie does a good job of setting the conditions for the vampires to take over the town and it wasn’t one of these movies that are all about being gory; they tried to have a good story. 88 Minutes (R, Drama, Thriller) C+
A renowned forensic psychologist (Al Pacino) gets a threatening call indicating he only has 88 minutes to live.  He then has to identify who the possible suspects are and how to stop whoever is threatening him.  The psychologist is so well renowned that it reaches the point where it is hard to take his character seriously, it would have been better if the character was a more average person instead of some type of super star.  The direction and musical score for the movie weren’t very good either.  Official Site

    300 (R, Drama, Action) A-
This movie is based on a comic book that is based on the battle of Thermopylae in which 300 soldiers held off thousands. This movie had a great story, great music, well written and visually amazing.  Official Site

    1408 (PG-13, Horror, Mystery) A-
A man (John Cusack) who has just about given up searching for proof of ghosts decides to stay at a hotel room in New York City despite the manager’s (Samuel L. Jackson) strong opposition to it.  This movie was well written and acted out, not as scary as I thought it would be though. Official Site

    10,000 B.C. (PG-13, Drama, Action) C+
D'Leh, a young hunter sets out to rescue his girlfriend from some mysterious outsiders.  There is also a sub plot involving his father that doesn't really add much to the movie. Official Site
